Action of active substances
Blessed Milk Thistle Scientific research shows that Blessed Milk Thistle active substances especially silymarin protect liver from viruses, toxins, alcohol and hepatotoxic medicines because they bind to the hepatic cells membrane outer receptors, inhibit the activity of circulating hepatotoxic substances and increase the level of the main liver antioxidant glutathione in liver, stomach and intestine. Antioxidative effect of silymarin is 10 times more potent that vitamin E. It also stimulates DNR, protein synthesis and the regeneration of the damaged hepatocytes. Silymarin decreases hepatic enzymes and bilirubin concentration in blood, stimulates regeneration of the hepatocytes, inhibits the formation of the cholesterol stones. Because of such effect silymarin Blessed Milk Thistle is suitable for treatment of various liver diseases: toxic liver disease caused by alcohol and side effects of the drugs, hepatic cirrhosis, gall bladder lithiasis. Turmeric extract Stimulates the production and secretion of the bile, regulates gastrointestinal tract function. Artichoke extract Stimulates the production and secretion of the bile. Blessed Thistle powder Improves digestion. Oregon-grape root powder Diminishes the inflammation and improves digestion. Methionine It is an amino acid that stimulates hepatic cells regeneration and detoxicative function of the liver. Lecithin, choline and inositol Activates lipids and cholesterol metabolism in the liver Vitamin B6 Important for detoxicative liver function. Great morinda fruit powder Strengthen the immunity
Scientific researches demonstrating the efficiency * 36 patients with alcohol induced liver disease were followed for 6 months. First group received silymarin, second – placebo. The administration of silymarin normalized bilirubin, asparagines and alanine aminotransferases levels, improved liver hystologic indicators. Conclusion: silymarin has hepatoprotective property, improves liver function. (Feher J, Deak G, Muzes G, et al. Liver-protective action of silymarin therapy in chronic alcoholic liver diseases. Orv Hetil (HUNGARY) 130:2723-2727; 1989). * Randomized double blind placebo controlled study was performed with 105 hepatocirrhotic patients. They received silymarin for almost two years. It was noticed that mortality due to the hepatic insufficiency decreased significantly in silymarin group compared to placebo. (Clinical Study 1989). * In Finland 1981 double blind study was performed with 106 patients with alcoholic liver disease. They received silymarin. The blood test and biopsy results showed that silymarin effectively improved hepatic function. * Double blind placebo controlled study with silymarin was performed in 2000-2002. It was proved that administration of silymarin decreases mortality due to the hepatic cirrhosis and chronic hepatitis rates, stops the progression of the liver diseases, improves life quality, it becomes easier to diagnose liver infections. Dosage 1-2 tablets 3 times after meals. Literature: 1. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. Milk thistle: effects on liver disease and cirrhosis and clinical adverse effects.
